The Egg House

Being unable to afford the high price of rent in Beijing, Dai Haifei, a recent architecture graduate, came up with a novel idea — the creation of an “egg house”. The inspiration to construct the domicile came after Haifei attended the 2010 Shanghai Biennale and encountered the similar “City egg” architectural project. The solar-powered eco-friendly house is propped up on wheels and cost only $964 to build, using bamboo splints, wood chips, sacks, and grass seeds as material.
